And they will know us by our love. John 13:35
"We strive to show the love of Jesus to children and their families in our community, and to provide a Christ-centered, home environment in which they can grow spiritually, academically, and socially. As we spend time with neighbors, we pray that our loving, serving, and mentoring of men, women, and children will be a partnership with God to draw them into a personal relationship with His Son"
Our Fall after school programs are going great. We still need more volunteers, financial support, supplies and your continuing prayers.
Join us in praying that...
1. God's will be done in Our House
2. We show the love of Jesus to our community & form strong relationships in Jesus
3. Others are drawn to a relationship with Jesus
4. Our neighbors will know us by our love
We need volunteers for our activities.
AFTER SCHOOL OUTREACH
Beginning on Monday, August 18 we will welcome students to come to Our House after school on Monday through Thursday for a healthy snack and help with their homework/tutoring.
Monday & Wednesday, Kindergarten thru 2nd, 2:50-4:00
Tuesday & Thursday, 3rd thru 5th, 2:30-4:00
Monday thru Thursday, Middle School (6th/7th) 3:30-5:30
This is NOT an after school program or babysitting, but rather an opportunity for children from the neighborhood to get help with homework and learn to be responsible for their assignments/studies. We intend to love, encourage and mentor “Our Kids” and help them gain confidence in their abilities to excel at school.
Our House is equipped with a study hall that has four computers and internet, as well as a library filled with books for all levels of reading (Thank you, Pine Hills Literacy and Hudson Family Foundation for the hundreds of new books that you donated to our ministry).
Several college students will be available each day to help the children with their homework and to encourage good study habits. We also have a supply closet full of basic school supplies (e.g. pens, pencils, notebook paper, markers, and glue), as well as items such as poster board, construction paper, and string, which may be needed for special projects.
We are working closely with the teachers from the elementary and middle schools to stay abreast of the students’ assignments, test schedules and activities that arise during the year. A calendar in the study hall will remind students and volunteers of upcoming test or assignments. Flash cards and dry erase boards are also available to help students with math or sight words for our younger friends.
We pray that our volunteers will develop strong relationships with those who come to Our House during the school year and that our active involvement in their studies will help them perform to the best of their abilities in school – and perhaps to even foster a love for learning.
