And they will know us by our love. John 13:35

"We strive to show the love of Jesus to children and their families in our community, and to provide a Christ-centered, home environment in which they can grow spiritually, academically, and socially. As we spend time with neighbors, we pray that our loving, serving, and mentoring of men, women, and children will be a partnership with God to draw them into a personal relationship with His Son"

A little look at what we do
Ways you can get involved

Our after school ministry is going well; many healthy snacks served and projects and homework assignments completed. We are still looking for more male volunteers, financial support, supplies and your continuing prayers.

For more information on how you can support us email ourhouseauburn@gmail.com

Join us in praying that...

1. God's will be done in Our House

2. We show the love of Jesus to our community & form strong relationships in Jesus

3. Others are drawn to a relationship with Jesus

4. Our neighbors will know us by our love

We need volunteers for our activities.

Monday-Thursday: 2:30-5:30

We welcome students to come to Our House after school on Monday through Thursday for a healthy snack and help with their homework/tutoring.

Monday & Wednesday, Kindergarten thru 2nd, 2:30-4:00

Tuesday & Thursday, 3rd and 5th, 2:30-4:00

Monday thru Thursday, Middle School (6th/7th) 3:30-5:30

This is NOT an after school program or babysitting, but rather an opportunity for children from the neighborhood to get help with homework and learn to be responsible for their assignments/studies. We intend to love, encourage and mentor “Our Kids” and help them gain confidence in their abilities to excel at school.

Our House is equipped with a study hall that has six computers and internet, as well as a library filled with books for all levels of reading (Thank you, Pine Hills Literacy, Hudson Family Foundation and many others for the hundreds of new books that you donated to our ministry)..

We have been blessed with many devoted college students and adults who make themselves available each day to help the children with their homework and to encourage good study habits. We also have a supply closet full of basic school supplies (e.g. pens, pencils, notebook paper, markers, and glue), as well as items such as poster board, construction paper, and string, which may be needed for special projects. Flash cards and dry erase boards are also available to help students with math or sight words for our younger friends.

We are working closely with the teachers from the elementary and middle schools to stay abreast of the students’ assignments, test schedules and activities that arise during the year. A calendar in our kitchen keeps us up to date on what is going on in the schools, at Our House and in the community.

We pray that our volunteers will develop strong relationships with those who come to Our House during the school year and that our active involvement in their studies will help them perform to the best of their abilities in school – and perhaps to even foster a love for learning.

Moms on Mondays

Each Monday we set a side a time to get to know and build relationships with the Moms of our kids. If you would like to fellowship with these incredible women, please join us!

Connecting with the community

We welcome opportunities to invite our kids and their families to Our House for a good meal, fellowship and fun. Special events and holidays bring much love and laughter around our tables. The St. Vincent de Paul Society blessed us with a traditional Thanksgiving lunch, full breakfast was served while we decorated Our House for Christmas and a good time was had by all at a Mardi Gras party hosted by the Auburn’s Men’s and Women’s Club Ultimate Frisbee teams -complete with jambalaya and king cakes. The Auburn Poultry Science Club has shared their passion for feeding large groups with us by preparing meals for Our Kids, on occasion, and delivered a box of kid-friendly, healthy food for each family to have during the Christmas break.

We are so grateful to have the support of the Jason Dufner Charitable Foundation. The foundation believes #HungerIsntAGame, and are working hard to ensure no child goes hungry in Lee County, Alabama. The Foundations signature program is Blessings in a Backpack, which provides elementary schoolchildren in Lee County, who are on the federal “Free and Reduced Price Meal Program” (including many of our kids who attend Yarbrough Elementary School), with a backpack of snacks to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat foods, like granola bars, juice boxes, mac and cheese, and oatmeal. The Foundation also provides summer weekend meal program for over 700 children in Lee County. We are working the Foundation to provide meals and healthy snacks for Our Kids throughout the summer, and will be planting several vegetable gardens at Our House.
